It holds fireworks display every New Year's Eve. My friends and I celebrated New Year's Eve 2010 on the street of Taipei to watch the show. The theme of the fireworks display to welcome 2011 is 100 ROC. This is to celebrate the 100th birthday of Taiwan. The show, which lasted for 288 seconds, is designed by Cai Guo-Qiang who is also responsible for Beijing Olympics and Wolrd Expo Shanghai's fireworks.

Adjoining the tower is a multi-level shopping mall. This mall houses several fashion stores, restaurants and clubs. Purchasing of tickets for the Observatory is located on the 5th floor of the mall. Ticket costs NT$400. Our ticket only costs NT$350 because we have been to Taipei Flora Expo. We just presented our Taipei Flora Expo ticket for the discount.

Taipei 101 Observatory is located at 88th-90th floor of the tower. It is open from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm. An elevator at the 5th floor will take visitors to 89th floor. Being the fastest elevator in the world, it only takes 37 seconds to go from the 5th floor to 89th.

The 89th floor of Taipei 101 is the Indoor Observatory. It shows a 360 view of the city and Taipei Basin in all directions. The damper of this skyscraper can also be seen from above. This floor has restaurants, mailboxes and souvenir and gift shops. It also offers a pre-recorded multimedia guides in eight languages.

The Outdoor Observatory is on the 90th floor. Unfortunately, it was closed when we visited Taipei 101 on New Year's Day because of the fireworks display last night. Aside from feeling the strong winds and enjoying the view, there's also a  theater on this floor which shows films about the construction of Taipei 101 and the previous years' New Year's Eve fireworks display.

Before going back to the 5th floor via the elevator in the 88th floor, visitors can view the world's largest wind damper up close. Also, a jewelry arts boutique is located in this floor called Treasure Sky.
