Xitou Forest Recreation Area

Xitou Forest Recreation Area is one of the seven experiment forests of National Taiwan University. It is established in 1970. The name "Xitou" means "Origin of Stream".









Xitou Forest Recreation Area is also known as "Honeymoon Scenic Area" due to its popularity as the most romantic place for newlyweds to spend their honeymoon.







Xitou Forest Recreation Area is full of old giant trees which mainly includes Cunninghamia Lancelata, Cypress, Gingko Trees and Moso Bamboo and many other different kinds of trees. Most parts of the area have been developed and cultivated purposely.








Weather in Xitou is cool and moist all the year round. Thus, it is a famous resort spot during summer. Another representative sightseeing spot in Xitou is the University Pond which has a depth of 10 meters.
